Art is my 2nd career. After retiring from a long career as a critical care nurse, at age 66, I began my formal training as a painter.
In 2002 I began taking classes at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, through the continuing education program. where I took 16 classes in drawing and painting.
I then had the good fortune to meet James Hempel, a Milwaukee artist who has mentored me and helped me develop as an artist. I have taken classes from James Hempel for the past 8 years. I continue to work with him now and for the forseeable future. James introduced me to Plein Air painting. Spending my summers outdoors, painting with friends, or alone, is one of the greatest joys I've known.
Travels to Italy, France, Spain and England left me with many wonderful photographs, which I've used as inspiration for my paintings.
I am a representational artist and work exclusively in oils. Now 75, I do believe these are the best years of my life.
